Interested participants will be able to register for the preferred itinerary on Monday and Tuesday morning at the Registration Desk.

The meeting point will be at Piazza Raffaele de Ferrari, 1, (Liguria Region site) for all tours.
All itineraries will end by the site of the social dinner.

ITINERARY 1
The splendor of Genoa
Our discovery of the city will begin with the courtyards of the Doge’s Palace, the site of the government of the former Republic of Genoa, and the magnificent Church of the Jesuits, with luxurious decorations and two paintings by P. P. Rubens.
A quaint elevator will then take us to the Castelletto scenic esplanade, to admire one of the largest old towns in Europe, with its bell towers, its gardens and an infinite number of slate-covered roofs.
After a walk downhill through a typical former “mule track”, we will begin our itinerary through the majestic Via Garibaldi and its remarkable mansions, with their impressive foyers and courtyards.
A walk through the narrow alleys of Genoa will make us discover other magnificent mansions and lead to the Cathedral of St. Lawrence.
The so called “Palazzi dei Rolli” of Genoa are UNESCO Heritage since 2006.

ITINERARY 2
The old city of Genoa: a maze of charming narrow streets with an infinity of ancient shops
A different way of exploring Genoa’s arts and its lifestyle. Genoa’s downtown hides some extraordinary shops in the interiors of ancient residences, such us the Palazzi of the Imperiale Family.
This tour then takes us to some small historic shops hidden in the narrow alleys of the old city: stores where locals shop for food, handmade candy, home tools and clothes, that have remained pristine for the last hundred years.
Meanwhile wandering through the traditional activities of the area, we will have the opportunity to admire the highlights of the city (The Doge’s Palace, Piazza De Ferrari, the Soprana Gate, the Cathedral).

ITINERARY 3
Medieval Genoa, a Republic ruling trade in the Mediterranean
The city of Genoa used to be a powerful Sea Republic. During the Middle Ages, its colonies, a series of economic and trade posts, were spread all over the Mediterranean and Black Seas. The architecture of Medieval Genoa shows interesting influences from cultures overseas and the pride of a rich city-state.
This tour will go through the quartiers ruled by the most powerful entrepreneurial families (such as the Dorias) to the fabulous convent of Santa Maria di Castello.
We will admire -among other gems- the tower of the Church of San Donato, the Soprana Gate and the fabulous facade of the Cathedral.
Our visit will finish with a special tour of the Canons’ Cloister.

Social Dinner, Tuesday October 23, 19:30 – 22:30

The social dinner will be held at the “Chiostro dei Canonici di San Lorenzo”, a medieval cloister which is site of the Diocesan Museum, very near to the Cathedral of Saint Lawrence.

A more extended description of the venue will be included here soon.

Registration Attendance to the social activities is free, but for the dinner.
